Welcome, my name is Jem Barclay, an aspiring journalist, writer and filmmaker currently in my final year of studying Journalism, Film and Television studies at London Metropolitan University.

I have directed and written a few projects as part of a team that have helped me find my voice as well as writing reviews and articles about the ever changing cinema landscape we have in a blog.

Flat out lies pilot

This Television Pilot was developed from a ten-minute comedy sketch that I directed. Along with a peer of mine, we re-wrote the script to become a full pilot. Alongside our other two peers, we would meet weekly to discuss the script as it went through several iterations due to plot changes or location availability.

When I'm not writing or directing for film or TV projects, I spend my time investigating how topics like AI, Social Media, Fandoms, Shifts in Hollywood, streaming platforms, world events and Independent cinema is changing the way we consume and talk about media in the 21st Century. I believe it’s important to discuss these topics in order to keep people educated and if I have even a small impact with my articles, then i think that’s worth it.
